ISRO Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Ahmedabad has collaborated with Nirma university for doing intensive research and innovation related to space

isroAs we have our own GPS in space now, ISRO is installing receivers among many universities in the country including Nirma to check the efficiency of the GPS.

In order to propagate space research related activities among students, the Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Ahmedabad has collaborated with a university.

What does the collaboration entail?

The department has signed an MoU with the University of Nirma for doing intensive research and innovation related to space
During the 21st annual convocation of the university on Monday, Anup Singh, the Director General, Nirma, has further announced that the department would set up its communication receivers in the campus.
Why are communication receivers being installed?

The Director General of Nirma said:

Earlier we were using "an American GPS system" however, now, we have our own and we need to check it from time to time
In order to "check the GPS system, ISRO is providing the receivers" to many universities including Nirma
"A lot of data" is being generated and can further be analysed by collaborating with the universities.
Innovative educational programmes to come up:

Moreover, the university exhibited 18 medals and 500 degrees to the students on the occasion.

John Anderson Fry, President of Drexel University, Philadelphia was the chief guest of the program as the university is planning to work with them to design innovative educational programmes like design and B.com hons.

"Through the institute of commerce, we will be offering B Com Honours starting this July with a batch size of 60 students initially, while a Bachelor's in design programme will be flagged off next year with a batch size of 60.

In design, we will be offering the programme in two disciplines namely graphic design and product design. We have also been in talks with Drexel University, Philadelphia, US and will see how we can work with them further especially in the design programme," Anup Singh said to the Indian Express.
