Sibal to open Central varsity in Tiruvarur

The proposed central university will be inaugurated by Union minister for human resource development Kapil Sibal,in Tiruvarur on September 30.

Deputy chief minister M. K. Stalin, minister for higher education K. Ponmudi and Union minister of state for finance S. S. Palanimanickam will grace the occasion. Central university vice-chancellor B. P. Sanjay will deliver the welcome address.

In the evening, the chief minister will unveil the statue of EVR Periyar installed in front of the bus stand. He will also address the public meeting organised by the DMK youth wing at south street by 6 pm. The chief minister wil visit his ancestral home in Thirukkuvalai on October 1.

The proposed university would be established on a sprawling 516 acres a Neelakudi village, about 4 km from Tiruvarur, on the Mayiladuthurai road at an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore About 450 acres of lands have so far been acquired by the government for the purpose.
The  inauguration of  the central university will take place at the makeshift building at collectorate master complex in Tiruvarur at 11 am with chief minister M. Karunanidhi in the chair.
