State government asked to ensure that the Common Entrance Test is conducted by HPU

The state unit of CPI-M has asked the government to ensure that the Common Entrance Test (CET) for the admissions in all private universities and colleges is conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) as notified earlier.

The party has asked the government to monitor the conduct by HPU as it alleged that some incumbent officials of the university are "hand-in-glove" with private universities and do not want smooth conduct of admission tests and creating an environment to facilitate holding of test by respective private universities.

The CPI-M has further asked the government to direct the HPU to use latest technology for conducting the admission tests.

The CPI(M) also warned the state government against politicising the post of member of Educational Institutions Regulatory panel.

The party asked the government to appoint persons with wide experience in field of education and unimpeachable integrity as chairperson and members of Regulatory Commission.

CPI (M) leader and Deputy Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation, Tikender Singh Panwar said, "No less than retired professor should be eligible for the post and all attempts to make room for political people in the Commission should be shelved forthwith".
