The institutions are linked to WBUT and are AICTE affiliated. There are, at present, two colleges under the group: Sir J C Bose School of Engineering and Dr P C Mahalanabish School of Management. The engineering college will impart EE.ECE, AEIE and CSE courses whereas the MBA College will impart MBA course in Finance, Marketing, HR and Systems.

The group organised a one-day seminar on July 11 on Teaching Foundations and Frontiers. Prof (Dr) Sabyasachi Sengupta Vice- Chancellor, West Bengal University of Technology and Prof (Dr) D K Basu, Ex Vice-Chancellor Burdwan and Tripura University were the guests of honour.

Prof (Dr) B N Biswas, the chairman, education division of the group, delivered a lecture on the need of an engineering college to fall in line with the decisions taken by the Washington Accord.

The success of the seminar led to another on July 27. This time the topic was lecture planning and attended by all faculty members. Prof Biswas gave a three-step guide to effective teaching. He also answered queries from faculty members. It was agreed that seminars should be organised frequently to bridge communication gaps between students and teachers.
