Anna Varsity BE first year classes from Aug.10

Chennai: For other colleges across the state, the classes will begin on September 7, as per the varsity plan, while classes at Anna Varsity would commence on August 10.

The classes for first year engineering students will begin on August 10 in Anna University campus and on September 7 for colleges across the state, said AU vice chancellor Prof P. Mannar Jawahar.

The admissions for engineering courses in Anna University and the four campuses of the varsity-College of Engineering (Guindy), Alagappa College of Technology, Madras Institute of Technology (Chromepet) and School of Architecture and planning  was over in the first week of counselling.

"Following the completion of admission for government quota seats, the seats for management quota in self financing engineering colleges are expected to be over by August end. As per the plan, the classes for those colleges are expected to commence on September 7," the vice chancellor added.

On the common academic calendar, Mr R.Radhakrishnan, vice chancellor of Anna University (Coimbatore), said a common syllabus is already in effect for the first four semesters across the state.
