Scholarship to OBC candidates

Various fellowships are provided periodically by university grants commission for scheduled caste, schedule tribe, minorities which include Christians and Islams.

As the first step university grants commission announced fellowship for other backward class-OBC candidates.

To study M.phil and PhD for subjects including Arts, social sciences, science, engineering and technology are eligible to get this scholarship. Whose annual family income should be less than Rs. 6 lacs. The aspiring candidates should not receive Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) scholarship from SIR functioning under UGC and science and Industrial Ministry.

UGC has decided to sanction scholarship for 300 OBC students. 3% of these scholarships are allotted for alternately gifted. To begin with the selected candidates by merit can get the scholarship of Rs.25,000/- per month for  2 years. Besides they will be given an amount of Rs.10,000/- (Arts studies), Rs.12,000/- (science, engineering, Tech) for contingency experiences.

After 2 years, Rs.28,000/- per month will be given for about 3 years, provided the norms are satisfied. Besides, Rs.20,500/- per year for Arts subject, Rs.25,000 for science, Engineering, Technical subject will be given as contingency experience. The payments will be made by E-payment.

The aspiring and eligible candidates have to apply through web.

The candidates belonging to most backward communities whose annual income is below Rs.6 lacs are decided as OBC. They are not eligible; irrespective commonly status of the annual income exceeds Rs.6 lacs per year.
