1340 get spot appointment at job fair

A total number of 1,340 applicants today got spot appointment at a job fair organised by Coimbatore District Small Industries Association and District
Industries Centre, (Coimbatore and Udhagamandalam), here.
Apart from this, another 1,120 applications were under process, as the managers of various companies were satisfied with the job-seekers from 8th Standard fail to Diploma holders and total number of aspirants were 5,230, CODISSIA Chairman, M. Kandhasamy told.
 
About 135 industries, particularly engineering sector, in and around the city participated in the fair, with some BE graduates aspirants also attending the interviews, he said.
 
A major highlight of the fair was applications of 402 tribals from remote areas, who were referred by West Zone IG, P Shivanandi, out of which 230 got appointment and another 130 were under process, Kandhasamy said.
 
The salary offered ranged between rs.3,500 to rs.12,000 during training, after which they would get increase depending on the performance, he said, adding nearly 18 per cent of the appointees were women.
 
Since there were large number of applicants from IT field, the association planned to organise another job fair soon, Kandhasamy said.
