Engineering fee structure

Updated on: Wednesday, March 05, 2014

Fee structure is one important factor which bothers all the parents in Education. Every state has an eye on the fees structure of private Engineering colleges. It is strictly worried factor of the common families, lower and middle income groups in Tamil Nadu. It is obvious, instead of severe instructions by the fee & committee; few Engineering colleges collect more fees from the students.

The permanent fee fixation committee for professional colleges fixed the fees for the Government quota of non accredited and accredited private Engineering colleges as Rs.40,000 to Rs.50,000/-.

Rs.70, 000 is fixed as the fees for management quota. But most of the private Engineering Institutions fixed these fees as Rs. 1 lac.

It is believed that Anna University informed through its channels like banners which are erected at the venue of counseling only about the tuition fee and not about other charges which are described by parents and other sources as hidden charges.

The parents with a belief that their maximum expenses as announced by Anna University, the moment they landed at the respective colleges, realized that the other charge comes around an additional Rs.80,000, thereby making the cost as 1,50,000/- it is shocking. According to the Anna University the state government fixed the terms only for Tuition fees, but not the other factors but it is expected by the parents and students that the state government should bring all fees charged by the colleges into and fix them as standard norms. More focus and transparency is being maintained, in particular in Higher secondary examination because, the marks scored in this examination will decide the admission of a students in professional colleges, in particular, Engineering and medicine. If a student did not get the free seat, then he is forced to take payment quota of the Government is self financed institutions.

If this also fails, naturally he/she has to play with money; money becomes he factor to decide their rest of future. So, this examination is unique in deciding the future of the candidates.

The government concentrates much in seat arrangements, question paper distribution and collection of answer sheets. Missing of answer sheets was the talk of the news in the last year. To avoid this, the Government is taking all possible steps. It is decided to utilize the postal Department. Vans to collect the answer sheets.

The important and good novel system is being introduced in this Academic year Government Examination that is, in the front page of computed coded answer booklet which consist of 39 pages, the name of the student roll no and photo will be printed.

Last week, the teachers stitched the answer sheet together, using tailoring machines.
