Updated on: Thursday, December 15, 2011

With the purpose of making the admission process in Delhi university, simple and prompt, the university plans to introduce online applications from the forthcoming academic year.

Recommended by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), the high level committee comprising representatives of the university and principles across the 16 colleges will deliberate on the pros and cons of the new recommended initiative.

Apart from becoming easier for outstation students to apply, several committee members feel that the move will result in more transparent admission process. Final recommendations on the changes  are expected to come up by mid January.

Students from areas like north-east face a tough time during admission process as they have to stay in Delhi for the entire month till the admissions are over. With the facility of online applications, they can visit the city only at the time of final admission.

Already few colleges like Lady Shri Ram(LSR) College, Hansraj college and Shri Ram College of Commerce(SRCC), offer online admissions.
