IIT Madras invites application for Admission to PhD Programme 2017

iitm IIT - Madras invites application for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under regular fulltime [with/without Half-time Teaching Research Assistantship (HTRA)] and part-time/external programme for the academic session 2017.

Aspirants are requested to apply latest by October 24.

Eligibility criteria for IIT Madras PhD Admission:

Educational qualification for IIT Madras PhD Admission:

PhD in Engineering:

All the candidates interested in applying for this course need to possess a Master's degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university/institute.

Aspirants must have a valid Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering (GATE) or UGC-JRF/ Natioal Eligibility Test (NET)/CSIRJRF/NBHM/INSPIRE or equivalent qualification in the relevant area.

Those aspirants who have qualified for the award of Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to PhD programme in various engineering and science departments as a regular full time scholar subject to the following conditions:

Students have a bachelor's degree holder in engineering/technology with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 for General, 7.5 for OBC-NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD on a 10.0 point scale.

PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences:

All the students should have a Master's degree in any discipline from a recognised university/institute.

Also, aspirants should possess at least three years of experience in research/industry in lieu of the above examination.

Selection procedure for IIT Madras PhD Admission:

All the aspirants will be selected on the basis of merit list, followed by interview round.

Application fee for IIT Madras PhD Admission:

All the aspirants from General/OBC category need to pay Rs 200 for each application form.

Students from SC/ST/PWD and female candidates need to pay Rs 100 only.

How to apply for IIT Madras PhD Admission:

All the aspirants need to apply through online application mode only.

Last date of registration of application through online is October 24, 2016

Date of test/interview: November 18 to November 25
