Even as school authorities admit that online availability of admission forms for entry-level classes can reduce pressure on parents and put an end to long queues, schools are yet to adopt such a system. With schools keeping a tight time frame to buy forms, parents are a harassed lot, with scores of them waiting for hours in a line for purchasing the prized form.

This year, the convent schools — St John’s High School, Sector 26; Carmel Convent School, Sector 9; Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26; and St Annes Convent School, Sector 32 — have kept a time slot of 2.45 pm to 4.30 pm for the distribution of forms.

St Kabir Public School, Sector 26 has already closed the sale of forms for admission to pre-nursery class.

Official spokesperson of St John’s High School-26 said, “Though we are treating the parents well, still online facility can reduce the pressure on the schools and parents. But this time, it is not possible as the process has already been started.”

On Wednesday, high drama was witnessed outside the Sacred Heart School when a few parents entered into a scuffle with the guards.

“Through single window, only one person can get the form. So parents need to wait for their turn. But yes, online facility can be there. We would think about making forms available online from next year,” said Gurpreet Bakshi, administrator, St Kabir Public School-26.

Even parents maintain that online facility to download forms should be there. “Then one can fill out the form at home and submit it with all the documents and pay the fee during submission time,” said Pallavi Nagri of Panchkukla, who was waiting for her turn outside Sacred Heart School.

Director Public Instructions (Schools) Upkar Singh said, “Availability of admission forms through online facility can be possible. It is a good suggestion. It can be thought over by both government and private schools by sitting together.”

President of Independent Schools Association H S Mamik, too, said such a facility should be there from next time.
