A.Field description

A navy is the branch of a nation's military forces principally designated for naval warfare and amphibious warfare; namely, lake- or ocean-borne combat operations and related functions. It includes anything conducted by surface ships, amphibious ships, submarines, and seaborne aviation, as well as ancillary support, communications, training, and other fields; recent developments have included space related operations. The strategic offensive role of a navy is projection of force into areas beyond a country's shores .The strategic defensive purpose of a navy is to frustrate seaborne projection-of-force by enemies. Education Details & Eligibility:

To become a Professional in the Navy one should have a graduate degree or at least a diploma. The degree and postgraduate degree courses are offered by the private and government colleges in India and around the globe. When applying a Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by the Navy which assesses the candidate's knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics.

The examination is followed by personal interviews/counseling, where the interviewers assess the degree of alertness, and awareness of the external environment, in the candidates and their suitability for a career in the Navy.

Basic eligibility criteria:

10th, +2 (Higher Secondary students) with any group as the majors can choose a career in Navy.
Course Duration:

Any graduates can apply for Navy but the most appropriate program would be related fields in Marine/Nautical Sciences. Training in this field is available at a number of schools and institutes all over India. These courses are offered at the levels of

  • Diploma in Nautical Science is around two years.
  • B.Sc. B.E in Nautical Science or related fields is around three/Four years.
  • M.E is offered as a two year program in various universities.
