Summer Placements in IIM Calcutta

iimSummer placements at Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) for the 2015 batch have successfully concluded with 23 per cent of its batch getting placed in consulting sector. The summer placement or internship is mandatory for the PGDM courses at IIM Calcutta. The placements this year witnessed a hike of 20 per cent in the stipend. The students were also given flexibility to hold an offer and appear for another placement.

According to a report published by The Times of India, the highest number of offers were given by companies like The Boston Consulting Group (20 offers), Accenture Strategy (15 offers) Bain and Co. (13 offers), McKinsey (12 offers), AT Kearney (8 offers). Many companies such as Deloitte US S&O, Auctus and Arete Advisors visited the campus for the first time and made good offers.

Finance sector continued to be one of the most sought after sectors. More than one fourth of the batch got offers from banking and financial services. Citi bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan Chase, UBS, Goldman Sachs, Avendus Capital, Deutsche Bank were the major banks that offered 20 front-end investment banking and market roles. While Portuguese bank, Haitong SA hired for the first time, UBS and Citi hired exclusively from IIM Calcutta in Investment banking roles.

The summer placements at IIM Lucknow was also successfully concluded in October. Breaking its own record, the institute achieved cent per cent summer placements in just four days. The top four segments based on roles offered were sales and marketing, finance, consulting and business development including some extremely sought after and niche profiles in the finance domain.

While, IIM are successfully concluding summer placements, IITs are also not lagging behind. The pre-placement offers by Amazon, Samsung and Facebook have caught eyeballs of people by offering a whopping amount of Rs 1 to 1.5 crores to IIT graduates. IIT Kharagpur witnessed 55 per cent rise in PPOs with 142 offers as compared to 92 last year.
