Punjab Government to monitor private Colleges

punjabIn a report, Punjab Higher Education and Languages Minister, Surjit Singh Rakhra has expressed concern over the exploitation of students by private universities. Punjab Higher Education and Languages Minister has instructed the department officials to prepare a draft of the regulatory authority to monitor them.

According to a report in Press Trust of India (PTI), Rakhra said, "A meeting should be convened immediately to prepare the draft of the regulatory authority and discuss each and every aspect minutely. He reiterated that Punjab government is committed to the welfare of the students and their exploitation, if any, by the private universities in Punjab would not be tolerated."

Rakhra also reviewed 11 government colleges that are under construction. He said that financial arrangements have been made in adequate measure regarding these colleges and studies must begin in these colleges from next academic session. He also analysed the skill development projects being under taken in 13 colleges of the state.

Talking about the senior professors promotions, Surjit Singh Rakhra will hold a meeting of Department Promotion Committee (DPC) next January so as to promote senior professors to the post of principals. The Government of Punjab also known as the State Government of Punjab is the supreme governing authority of the Indian state of Punjab. It has 22 districts and consists of an executive, a judiciary and a legislative branch.
