After launching a digital library in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh earlier this month, another one has been launched in the Mandal Parishad Primary School, 8th Battalion, Rangareddy district of Telangana. This school has also witnessed the opening of a National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) Centre.

This library is inaugurated in the school by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, E.S.L Narasimha and were introduced by the Cyient Foundation. The main aim of this library is to provide high-quality digital educational resources to more than 300 poor students of the school, and to promote digital literacy.

The materials provided by the digital library, which is similar to the one in Nellore, include: teachers and schools from Class 1 to Class 5, online supplemental learning portal for students, learning resources for various subjects in multiple formats (animations, video lectures, presentations, class notes, worksheets, mind maps) and a repository of resources (question banks, CDs and DVDs to access offline content, projects, lesson plans, mapped content, activities, professional development and more) for teachers.

The Centre is expected to give training for 1,000 community members- one from each family- from 8th Battalion and the surrounding areas to operate a computer or a digital access device (such as a tablet), and use the Internet to search for information, send/receive emails and access various e-governance services.
