18th IIT of our country commenced classes in Kerala

iitThe 18th Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) began its first academic class on August 3. This IIT has been opened in Palakkad, Kerala, it started its session with a total of 117 students, out of which only six students are from Kerala and most of of the students are from Uttar Pradesh.

The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Smriti Irani spoken to the IIT students and their parents through video conferencing. She advised the students to inculcate a social perspective, and aim at developing a well organised life, apart from concentrating on studies.

Currently IIT , Kerala is conducting all its activities from a temporary campus, and the admissions have been conducted for four disciplines of engineering(B.Tech). The official inauguration of  IIT Kerala will be held later, till then then IIT, Kerala will function from the temporary campus. The permanent campus for IIT Kerala will be set up in a 500 acre land in Palakkad, Kerala.

Recently the admissions to IITs were ended. This year, for the very first time joint admissions were conducted for 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 18 Indian Institutes of Technologise (IITs), other 18 Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs) and Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad.

JEE Main 2015 was held by CBSE on April 4, April 10 and April 11. The results for the JEE Main exam were announced on April 27. Over 13 lakh students wrote JEE Main this year, out of which three lakh students attended the online exam. The JEE Advanced exam was conducted on May 24. Approximately 1.5 lakh students has been registered for this competitive exam, and about 1.25 lakh students appeared for it.
