Shifting of Law College in Chennai

As such Dr.Ambedkar Law College is functioning in the campus of Madras High Court and it is worth mentioning that this campus is 113 years old and is important historically. There is more to shift this campus to Sriperumbudur in the next two years as stated by the sources of university.

It is expected that the college will be shifted immediately by Public works Department; because the building becomes unsafe due to the ongoing Metro Rail work.

This was opposite by the law college students and they conducted rally.

Justice E.Padmanaban committee declared this building as “Group I” heritage structure. The university authorities explained the protesting students that the shifting, will not take place immediately, but will take at least 2 more years to do so. PWD reported about the unsafe condition of the Building due to Metro Rail work.

An official said the heritage structure was safe according to IIT Chennai. A Metro rail official said that it is PWD who declared the building is unsafe.

As such, it is expected the Law College will get on new campus in future.
