Central Government insisted Hindi and English as main subjects

Two decisions for Educational Institutions are taken now by the present BJP Government, that is, to teach Hindi and English as main subjects at the graduation level and to teach Law and Commerce.  In Hindi medium, these decisions are now circulated to all universities.  This created opposition by the Tamil parties and academicians. The circulars regarding this with the signature of Kulvider Kaur of the language pision of Home Ministry has also directed the universities to teach Law and Commerce.

According to the circulars, the universities are directed to submit their actions regarding these circulars are concerned to University Grants Commission and Rajya Sabha Dept. The decisions were taken in the meeting of central Hindi Committee led by the Prime Minister.  The founder – leader of Pattali Makkal Katchi of Tamil Nadu, incidentally the present ally of BJP what is the ruling party commented that there is no clarity  whether the3 centre had consulted the state in this issue or not.  He claimed the central to with draw this circular.

K. Samarasam, the ruling party of Tamil Nadu AIADMK, stated that the circular is unwanted and also stressed that there is another attempt to impose Hindi forcefully to non-Hindi people.

Mr. T.K.S. Elangovan the spokesman of DMK, insisted central Govt to drop this immediately and said that the people of Tamil Nadu will not accept this.

K.T. Raghavan the state secretary of Tamil Nadu BJP, said that he did not see the circular yet and claimed that non can enforce these kind of thing on anybody in these days.  Prof.K.Thandavan, the Vice Chancellor of Madras University said that he did not receive the circular yet said if it is so, it would be strongly opposed.  Prof. A. Ramasamy, the former Vice Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Council defined the decision to be undemocratic.
