An analysis about Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission Counselling

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission process is meant for selecting the candidates various branches in engineering colleges in Government Engineering colleges, Government Aided Engineering colleges, and self finance private Anna University affiliated colleges. The Admission is done by a single window system by Anna University in its campus. The selection is based on marks scored by the students in their Academic examinations through this counseling more than 1.5 lac engineering aspirants got themselves enrolled in various engineering branches.

Single window system is purely based on merits. The branch and college will be allotted purely based on merits of the students and communal Reservation. Candidates can opt their choice which is available at the time of counseling.

As on this academic year is concerned the total number of available seats are 2,04,071 and 7 new colleges are added. The numbers of boys joined are 64,775 and that of girls is 40358. Total number of colleges functioning for Engineering in Tamil Nadu is 538. Around 51% of the seats which is 1,05,133 in number are filled while 49% of the seats, that 98,938 in number still is vacant.

802 students have joined as Anna University and its constituent colleges. Mechanical engineering has become most preferred branch in which 26770 students joined as the second option, 19012 students joined. Electronics and communication brand. 17010 students selected civil Engineering. Out of 659 Tamil Medium civil, 319 seats were filled. Out of 718 Tamil Medium Mechanical stream 261 seats are filled. 59549 out of 164929 become eligible first graduate applicants. In 20 engineering colleges all seats were filled. In 23 colleges only less than 10 seats are vacant in all the branches. 100 colleges were filled only 20% of their seats.

The counseling session started in July 7 and ended in August 4.
