Civil Service Aptitude Test - CSAT

In 2011, union public service commission revised civil services (preliminary) examination syllabus and introduced Civil Service Aptitude test as a second paper for 200 marks. CSAT –II paper consists of questions on comprehension, inter personal skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, basic numerals ability, decision making and problem solving, general mental ability and English language comprehension skill in X std level.

The people who are against CSAT claim that CSAT is against the interest of the candidates opting for Hindi other regional languages this claim and demand is backed by politician of Hindi speaking states and this issue was raised in parliament also. The candidates who are opposing CSAT said that the questions relating to English language comprehension skills are difficult for a Hindi medium student. They also added the test favour science students. A 3 member panel was set up in 2014, march under the chairmanship of Aravind varma. Civil service (prelim) examination is to be held on August 2014. This itself is late against the last year’s schedule.

                The Government is waiting for the results of Aravind Varma panel to decide about this issue.
