Updated on: Friday, May 02, 2014

Renewal of recognition was denied for two P.G.Courses of Dr.A.L. Mudaliar PG Institute of Basic Medical sciences of University of Madras. The reason referred by MC I is the deficiencies in Infrastructural facilities in the Institution. The PG courses for which recognition were denied is MD microbiology and MD pathology. The students who have completed their MBBS degree normally try to do these courses. One of the reasons for the denial of affiliation renewal is the teaching felicities were non-medical in nature. The facilities like blood bank and bio-chemistry diagnose lab were not available in the institution. Similarly the medical council of India has listed of similar reasons.

It is also stated, that in histopathology, specimens were not carried out for hematology. Also, the department was not undertaking cytology and urine examinations. There was no central research lab also. The faculty shortage in micro biology and pathology department is another reason.
